Viral Video Shows Driverless Car Crashing
A viral video on the internet captured from a dashcam shows a roadway incident with a driverless car. The accident that was captured on video footage happened at around 3:45 p.m. on September 1st. The driver of a silver Hyundai suddenly braked in the left-hand lane of Harbor Boulevard in Rowland Heights and a female driver got out of the car, leaving the door of the vehicle open.
The still running vehicle rolled forward, crossed a center median and into oncoming traffic, crashing into two vehicles. The driverless vehicle then continued onto a sidewalk, rolled over trees and vegetation before coming to a stop.
The driver in the video has been identified by the California Highway Patrol as Jasmine Lacey, 22, of San Bernardino. Lacey has been arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Lacey has been released from jail because of what authorities say is insufficient evidence to support a criminal complaint.
Even if this driver is not charged criminally, she can still face civil charges and is liable for the injuries and damages her negligence caused.
