Teen Dies in Wreck on the PCH
A 13-year-old girl has died after having been struck by a driver on Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach.
According to authorities, Mara Garcia, 13, of Huntington Beach was on the northbound side of PCH between Goldenwest Street and Warner Avenue at approximately 8:45 p.m. when she was struck near a traffic signal near the entrance of Bolsa Chica State Beach.
The unnamed driver was a 62-year-old man who was driving a red 2014 Chevy Camaro. The driver stayed at the scene of the fatal accident and answered questions from Huntington Beach Police officers before he was released.
In a statement, Los Angeles County Coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter said that Garcia was taken to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, where she died as the result of her injuries.
