Task Force Cracking Down on Gang Activity
The rivalry between the Crips and the Bloods has been going on for what seems like an eternity. The police recently formed a specialized gang task force specifically to address the problem.
There have so far been 33 arrests made, and more are expected to be on the way. “This effort was absolutely necessary. Gang violence and violent crimes don’t have jurisdictional boundaries, so law enforcement must work together to rid the streets of these gang members who are reigning terror in our neighborhoods,” says the press secretary for the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department.
At least three of the arrested are suspected of murder. More crimes related to murder are on the docket for these individuals. The effort itself seized guns, drugs, and other items during the operation.
“The days of a criminal street gang being neighborhood specific is long gone and that issue underscores the need for all of us in local law enforcement to communicate with one another and to collaborate with one another better and more effectively that we have ever done so in the past,” says the police chief of San Bernardino.
What about those people who have more than a parcel of doubt surrounding them concerning these heinous crimes? Were there extenuating circumstances which may have gotten in the way of proper procedures? Did the police act legally?
