Shooting May be Self-Defense
A man is dead after a shooting incident that law enforcement believes may have been an act of self-defense.
Police have identified Pierre O’Neal, 31, of Victorville, as having been shot multiple times at approximately 8:05 p.m. in the 15300 block of Foal Court. O’Neal was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton where he was pronounced dead.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, witnesses indicate that O’Neal came to the location of the shooting brandishing a handgun and threatened several people who were in the garage of the residence. One of the people inside the garage who was in fear for his own safety, shot O’Neal multiple times.
911 received a call of shots being fired in the area. Deputies responded to the call and are continuing their investigation into the incident.
No one has been arrested in the case. A spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Department said that they will forward the case to the District Attorney’s Office. It is the District Attorney’s Office that will decide to prosecute the person who shot O’Neal. The name of the shooter has not been released by law enforcement.
