Glass Shower Door Explodes on Child
A mother from Canyon Country, Rebecca Bruce suffered a major scare when her daughter Lily was trying to keep her sister from opening her glass shower door. Suddenly, the glass shower door exploded, cutting Lily from head to toe and sending the child into a panic.
Bruce called paramedics and Lily was transported to an area hospital. Lily received three staples in her head, as well as other staples, stitches and bandages throughout her body.
According to Scott Mittelman of Preferred Glass and Windows, tempered glass doors such as the shower door in the Bruce’s home can break for a number of reasons. These include extreme temperatures of hot and cold, defects in the glass or even a blunt object hitting the glass.
Rebecca Bruce believes that the public should be informed of the risk surrounding the shower doors, especially the parents of small children. Bruce has said that she plans to contact the Consumer Product Safety Commission and report the incident.
