FBI Raids Suspected Gang Members
There are many cities fighting against street gangs, and San Bernardino is no different. The struggle between the police and gang members is long-lived and legendary. In one of the most recent chapters of this anti-fairy tale, law enforcement officials, including the FBI, performed early morning raids to fight back against alleged members of the Sur Crazy Ones (SUR), a San Bernardino gang.
Ithzel Lopez, Richard Ortega, Javer Palomino, and Jaime Castrellon found themselves on the wrong end of the law when they were taken into custody and booked on many charges. The San Bernardino police department “continues to take aggressive action to curtail street gang activity within their jurisdictional boundaries.” These efforts involve synchronizing raids and other efforts.
Firearms were confiscated from the alleged gang members, including a 9mm pistol, a submachine gun, and a 40 caliber rifle. There was also a pound of pot that was seized. Another raid, just a week earlier, caught more than a dozen alleged gang members. There were multiple weapons confiscated in that raid, one which was targeted against the Gilbert Street Bloods. These gang members allegedly attacked small businesses, gas stations, convenience stores, and other places during their drug trafficking activities.
