DUI Checkpoint Catches 5 Offenders and Impounds 15 Cars
The police department conducted a DUI saturation patrol in San Bernardino, from 6 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday. According to reports, the patrol stopped 83 vehicles, conducted field sobriety tests on 17 people and arrested five people suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol. In addition, police arrested one person on a warrant, issued 39 citations for miscellaneous traffic violations as well as impounded 15 vehicles, according to a police news release.
Despite the different safety measures pushed by the government, driving under the influence is still prevalent. Maybe it’s because many people who drive when under the influence of alcohol or drugs do not believe that their skills are greatly affected until after they are faced with a dangerous situation. It is only then that they recognize their coordination and their ability to think quickly are affected. By then, it is already too late for them to undo the damages that they have caused.
