Driver Accused of Causing Crash in Redlands Pleads Not Guilty
A Corona man pleaded not guilty of DUI and triggering a crash that injured six people on a Redlands freeway. According to court records, 42-yer-old Jason Parsons was prosecuted in San Bernardino Superior Court last month regarding the incident which occurred in August.
Parsons was driving a Volkswagen Passat on the westbound 10 Freeway, east of Ford Street, when he suddenly went the wrong direction and collided with a black Cadillac Escalade. A few minutes later, a 2007 Saturn Vue bumped into the Escalade, throwing a man in the stationary vehicle out onto the roadway.
Redlands and Yucaipa firefighters had to cut out the other victims who were trapped in two of the vehicles. One of them was a pregnant woman who later complained of leg and abdominal pain. The man thrown from his vehicle and five other victims were taken to hospitals. Parsons was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton.
Parsons posted bond on Sept. 4, the District Attorney’s Office filed charges on Oct. 17 and he is scheduled to be back in court on Jan. 9.
