95 arrested in San Bernardino County DUI crackdown
The holiday seasons is the best time of the year to have fun and indulge with great food and drinks. We have all a reason to celebrate. However, that doesn’t mean that we also have the right to go too far and lose control. Instead of having a good time, a one-time mistake due to drunkenness might put us in a very difficult situation — like losing a loved one after being involved in a road accident caused by driving under the influence.
To help stop this, authorities have arranged several sobriety checkpoints or roadblocks to determine if there were drivers who go behind the wheel drunk. These checkpoints are often set up late at night or in the very early morning hours and on weekends. Recently, twenty-five county agencies participated in the holiday season crackdown on DUIs. Funding for the program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. According to authorities, ninety-five people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in San Bernardino County between Dec. 13th and the 21st. These numbers simply prove that there are still a lot of people who tend to make risky decisions when drunk.
