Driver Arrested for Striking Pedestrian During Rose Bowl Parade

images (13)A woman has been arrested after striking a runner with her car along the route of the Rose Parade on the morning of New Year’s Day and then fleeing the scene.

According to the Pasadena Police Department’s Lt. Kelly Evans, officers arrested Yuki Horne, 40, of Los Angeles, has been arrested on the charge of driving under the influence after she struck a pedestrian whose name has not been released by authorities.

Evans said that the accident occurred near Colorado and Sierra Madre Boulevards when Horne struck the pedestrian and then kept on driving.

The pedestrian received a head injury and was knocked unconscious. She was transported to an area hospital in serious but now stable condition. Of course, ringing in the New Year is a tradition for many people around the world. However, no one should ever have so much celebration that they get behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated.

If you do get into an accident, by law, it is considered illegal to leave the scene of an accident until authorities arrive on the scene. In the case of a minor fender-bender, however, there should at least be an exchange between parties of insurance information and contact details. A person is also a required by law to render aid if possible for any person who is injured at the scene of an accident. Failure to do so can result in a charge of hit and run and other charges being filed.
